Dallas Mavericks: Maxi Who?
As free agency winds down and you see Kawhi balancing out the NBA, Russ figuring out his next move, and The Pelicans starting to look like a wave, you may have taken a moment to ask yourself… 🗣 What did the Mavericks do?!
Well, we weren’t able to sign Kemba like everyone said we would, but let me give you something positive:
WE GOT BACK MAXI!
If you’re an avid Mavs fan, I’m sure you won’t need any explanation why this is good, but for the more casual fans, let me help you out!
Maximilian Kleber is a 27-year-old power forward from Würzburg, Germany. Würzburg is the same city Dirk is from, but I can assure you they are not the same player.
Maxi is a DEFENSIVE PRESENCE.
Kleber averages a block a game playing just over 21 minutes. If he can do that coming off the bench and only starting 13 games last season, then imagine what he can do with a little more playing time. If you average out his per 36 minutes averages (what you usually look at if you want to see what someone’s numbers might be if they played starter minutes), Maxi comes out to average almost two blocks a game! This is huge coming off the bench for the Mavericks.
Of course he’s sharing court time with Porzingis, but Maxi is going to be a big contributor for this at least playoff bound Mavericks team.
I’m happy with this signing and I hope you guys can appreciate Kleber just a little more this season.
